[Open Rp] Birthday Party

    The Collins house is a two story townhouse in mid-Manhattan.  It's location was chosen because it was closer to the office.  Liam Collins hated cars, and the less time he spent in them, the better he felt.  One of his constant worries was getting blown up in a car, or hit by one.  His paranoia was not unfounded.  It was a well furnished house, with thick carpets that covered hard wood floors, and padded the feet of over stuffed chairs.  

Before moving in, Liam Collins had the house professionally decorated, and it shows.  There were very few personal effects around the public rooms, there was a very real feel of this being some sort of display house, that no one truly lived there.  The feeling was not unfounded.

The feeling however was trying to be exorcised by the movement of strangers, of people setting up food, the bar and making sure things were generally in order.  Lights were added, music played, and slowly but surely the grim, empty feeling was driven from the house through open doors.  

Salome watches the movement from the top of the stairs with a rather detached interest, as if she was watching an ant farm behind glass, and not human movement.  She's not sure why she feels this way, except that it is not making her very happy.  Maybe it's nervousness, or paranoia, or a little bit of everything all rolled up into one ball that has settled very happily in her stomach.  

Either way, she forces herself from the top of the stairs and to the bathroom so she can fish getting ready.  

As her attention is turned away from the activity more people filter into the house, bringing balloons and various decorations to make it actually look like there is someone having a birthday.  It looks almost childish, but she didn't choose any of it, and she happens to like the balloons so she doesn't mind.  Ian, her father's right hand man, has arranged all of it, fussing over her as if she was his own child.  He has taken it upon himself to make sure she is well taken care of while her father is away.  

When she finishes dressing, he smiles at her and compliments her on her outfit, she thanks him and accepts a kiss on the cheek begrudgingly.  She's not sure if he sees the gold hoop that goes through her belly button, if he does, he doesn't say anything.  If he does, then she's sure she'll hear about it later.  

He tells her that she's grown into a very lovely woman and wishes her for the tenth time a happy birthday.  All of a sudden she wants to hit him, to shove him away, but she doesn't, she smiles and waits for him to leave.  When he does, she can breathe again.  

Feeling lighter then before, she grins to herself and walks down the stairs to find something to drink.  After drink number one, things begin to look a lot better.  So this is what it feels like to be an adult.

ooc:  I think this is the part of the play where I say something really general like: 'play nice' and 'bendy time applies.'  But I think you all are intelligent roleplayers and know the drill, so stating that would just be over kill . . . oh wait.  Feel free to bring in whoever you would like, the more the merrier!

Hiro appears in her bedroom, figuring it's the least likely place that strangers will be hanging around. He looks around to see if she's still up here, though he can hear a bit of the noise downstairs. He hopes he isn't too late. Early would be good.

He's carrying two presents, though one of them is hidden in his suit pocket. He's dressed in a dove grey suit with a black shirt and silver tie.

He exits her bedroom and leans over the railing to see if he can find her down below.

Salome was downstairs, working on picking up a plate of fruit that had fell on the floor. Currently on her hands and knees she reaches under the couch to pull out various pieces of fruit, muttering under her breath as she did so. Something about the carpet, or how clumsy she was.

Hiro comes down the stairs. No reason to scare the people setting things up by appearing amongst them. He walks up behind Salome. "Why are you down there?"

She nearly jumps out of her skin at the voice, pulling back, she blows hair out of her eyes and looks over her shoulder at him. Grinning she held up a piece of watermelon and then slowly climbed to her feet. "We had a prison escape," fixing her top she gives him another big smile.

"Happy birthday, sun of my life. Do you want your present now or do you have a place you are putting them all?"

He quickly lifts her hand and eats the watermelon out of her fingers. He licks them, then kisses her hand.

Salome was one of her best friends gained in a short amount of time and she had helped her when things got shitty. So there was no surprise that she was there at the party, letting herself in since she had a key and she looked around. "Yo! Someone call for entertainment?" She called out jokingly, knowing Sal would catch the joke considering she knew what Farah did for a living. Wearing a cute outfit (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=2684268), she tugged at her top with one hand as she carried a bag in the other.

Lifting her head, she grins at the sound of the other girl coming through the door. When she catches sight of Farah, she whistled low and grins, "well look! The entertainment is here!" Moving forward, she wrapped her arms around the other girl in a big hug. "You look fantastic!"

"I know, where's my table to dance on?" She teased before catching Salome in a tight hug right back. "Thank you, so do you! So cute." She stepped back and admired with a smile before handing over the bag. "There you are, presents for whenever we open presents." She laughed.

"I set one up for you in the dining room, you can be surrounded by yummy food while you dance. Hopefully that will be okay." Still grinning, she manages to blush while she takes the bag. "You really didn't have to get me something, today was fun enough."

"See, you take such good care of me." She smiled brightly, "I always like fruit when I'm dancing. And cheese!" Wriggled her hips a little like she were dancing before smiling at the bag, "Sure, I did. We're friends. And yes, it was a blast." Studies her new manicured nails. "Was it a good birthday day for you?"

After a brief supersonic dash, Hank lands with Eliza outside the townhouse.

She chuckled, putting her feet to the ground before shifting the candy bouquet (http://candybouquet688.com/images/products/Candy%20Bouquet%20Popcorn%20%20Box%20CBI.jpg) in her arms a bit. "Okay, that's killer on dresses." Straightens her clothes.

Dancing

Hiro follows Salome to the open area of the living room. He's not exactly the best of dancers, but he can slow dance as well as anyone. The fast dances sort of elude him.

It's not a fast dance, and even if it was, she'd still keep it slow. Her arms go around Hiro's neck as she presses close and sways with him to the music. Humming along with the music, she keeps her eyes closed.

Hiro's arms go around her waist. His cheek is pressed against hers as they sway together. He takes a deep smell of her - a mix of perfume and phermones. He smiles gently. If she presses closer, she will feel that there is something in his inside breast pocket.

As she leans against him, it takes her a moment to realize that something is poking at her. And not poking her in the normal way. Grinning, she pulls back a little and rubs right above her breast. "You're poking me, usagi!"

Chuck and Casey arrived together. They were both a bit late to the party (for reasons they couldn't exactly share).

Chuck held a set of balloons in his right hand and held a gift tucked under his left arm. He then knocks on the door.

Extracting herself from the current situation she was in, Salome picks up her drink from the table and heads over to the door. Unlocking the door, she opens the door and grins at the two at the door. Eyebrows shot up, and she made a motion for them to come in.

"Hey! Hi, come in! I'm glad you could make it!"

"Thanks for inviting us," Chuck said before apologizing, "Sorry we're late though."

He then motioned towards the balloons and in a lowered voice added, "The balloons were Casey's idea, by the way. I dunno if he was going to say anything."

"You are more then welcome, and don't worry about it, I think you are fashionably late." She said with a laugh, shutting the door when they had come in.

Looking at the balloons and then at Casey she laughs behind her hand. "The Major?! Really?! I am shocked," she pretends to be shocked before taking the balloons. "They are wonderful, thank you."

"Well as long as we're not ridiculously late," Chuck replies with a sheepish grin.
