*Hiro pops in.* Come, come, come! *He's bundled up in a parka. After all, it's snowing and icing in New York tonight. He'll wait for her to get dressed up.* We will have to go elsewhere, though. The moon won't be seen here.
It's snowing out there. We do not have to be gone for very long at all, just enough to show you the moon. It will probably be cold unless we go to islands. It snowed in New Orleans today! 8 inches!
I kind of like the snow, it's pretty! *She peeks out the window for a moment.* But it looks bad out. Did it? Wow, that's - kind of odd, isn't it? Eight inches is a lot.
*Thinks about it for a moment.* Maybe somewhere with a little less snow, North Carolina? Idaho?! *Now she's just naming states.*
*Hiro gets out his Blackberry and looks at the Weather Channel.* According to this, it is cold, but clear in New Orleans. We could go there. You will still need your coat and mittens. And we can see the snow!
*Hiro grabs her around the waist, even if he can mainly feel coat. One minute they're in New York, the next they are standing in Lafayette Park, looking at the snow all over the ground. The moon is glowing overhead. There are very few people out and about tonight.* Oh, it so pretty.
*Looking around, her eyes wide as she peers at all the snow and the bright lights that illuminate the chapel and the statue of Lafayette. Even with the snow out people are still walking and drinking.* God, it is.
It's beautiful, magical really. I don't think I could picture this anywhere else. *Grinning she beckons him close with a finger.* Lets take a picture together!
*Reflexively, his fingers tighten on the phone, so they get caught in the kiss. Hiro holds her close, damning the cold for the fact that they're both lumpy coats and that he can't hug her as close as he wants.
*Slowly pulling back, she gave a breathless laugh, her cheeks flush from the cold and the kiss. The coats do prove to be a problem but she presses as close as possible, sliding a hand into his coat pocket.* Show me the bunny on the moon.
He points up at the moon. "You see the large dark area and the smaller one over it? That is the rabbit's body. Then those two longer masses are his ears. In front of him is the usu, in which the mochi is made. He takes his kine and pounds the rice to make the mochi. Usually it takes 2 people to do it, but he can do it all alone."
Salome tilts her head up, following his finger up to the moon. She peers at the moon closely until she finds the shapes that he describes, a grin breaks out on her face and she nods quickly. "Oh! I see him, he does look like a bunny! And mochi is good, it's eaten a lot around new years, right?"
"I think I have had the ice cream, but not without." Linking her arm with his she puts her head on his shoulder. "What is it like, living on the moon?"
"Cold," he says. "All the bunnies have to huddle together when they finish making mochi. However, they are all friends and around the tiny fire at night, they sing songs about the pretty blue planet and the warm sun."
Salome beams at his story, she loves when he tells her stories. Even in the winter cold she doesn't mind standing around as long as he's there with her. "Do you miss being away from your bunny friends, or are you happy to be on the pretty blue planet?"
"I like the pretty blue planet. It is warm and has beaches so I can sit by the water and see my friends on the moon. All of my friends envy that I am here."
She was silent for a long time, cars driving slowly through the slushy snow filled street in front of them. Behind them, in the ice cold stillness the sound of music came from a bar still open. "Will you take me there one day?"
He grins as she kisses. "They think I have quite the imagination. I have to prove it to them." He looks at the snow around them. "It is so strange to see this area covered with snow."
"I think they would be very happy with what you've done so far." Looking around with him, she pulls back and to a stretch of clean snow. Picking some up she formed it into a snow ball before throwing it at him.
She made a face, "Pickles! I knew we forgot to do something." There is a moment of silence as she kisses him. "We should make General Jackson talk!" She points up to the statue of a man on the horse.
"We could get some kind of mike or something and put it in his mouth and talk out of that," he giggles. "I could freeze time and no one would see me do it."
