    It was a nice, warm summer night, the sun had gone down and it had cooled down to the point where you could sit outside and not sweat.  The drive in, was two screens, a parking lot, and hills that surrounded the parking lot and gave a perfect view of the cars and the screen.  Salome had walked from her house, and bought two tickets before climbing up on one of the hills and spread the blanket her grandmother had given her.

A grandmother, yeah that was still weird.

Sitting down on the blanket, she put the basket down next to her and took out a bottle of water.  Once she took a long drink, she text messaged Hiro to know that she was there.  Hopefully he would be able to spot her.

"You will have to take the T-Rex out for a walk." She giggled helplessly at the thought of him taking the dinosaur out for a walk around the block.

"Some people just don't think that family is very important."

"Hiro-kun, I like that. Were you a cute kodomo, Hiro?" She murmured softly against his neck.

Hiro laughs with her over that image. "I would have to have one of those huge green trash bags to clean up after him."

"Family is extremely important. They are your support when things go wrong and they share your joys. They are your past, present and future." He shakes his head. "How can they turn their backs on that?"

Hiro blushes. "I also have to warn you that if you call me Hiro-kun in front of other Japanese, they may make assumptions you would rather they did not." He pulls out his wallet. "This is a picture of my family when my mother was alive. I think I am about 5 in this picture." He pulls out a color picture. It's obviously a posed family shot. His father stands behind his mother who is seated in a chair with Hiro in her lap. Kimiko stands before her father, leaning a little on the chair. Both Kimiko and his mother are dressed in very fancy kimonos. His father is in a dark kimono with the family crest on both sides. Hiro is dressed in a summer yukata of blue. "I think we took this during one of the big summer festivals."

"That would be such a horrible job! Maybe we should get a smaller dinosaur." Still giggling, she sobered up a little at the mention of family.

"I think family is very important, but sometimes family isn't very good." She was feeling very guilty all of a sudden for turning her father in.

"Why, because they would think you were my boy? You're older then me!" Grinning, she looked down at the picture, lightly taking it from him. They looked so very perfect, but the boy was really adorable. "You look so cute, Hiro. Your family looks very handsome, do women usually wear Kimono in Japan? I didn't see a lot when we went." She handed the photo back over to him.

"Not one of the raptors. They would eat us out of house and home and bring all their friends."

He looks at her seriously. "Some people do not know how to treat anyone, especially their families. Your father is one of those people. Anyone who abuses their family is just evil. I am sorry if you feel I am wrong, but that is how I feel about it." He looks a little ashamed to have said that, but he can't take it back. He really does feel that.

"No, they would think I am your...boyfriend." He's blushing so much, she can sort of see it even in the dark.

"Most of the time only the older people wear them all the time. The rest of us wear them on special occasions."

"Well everyone knows that those raptors are cheeky, they have no respect for anyone."

She opened her mouth, and watched him for a long moment, a little caught off guard by his words. "You aren't wrong, it's just that my family, my father behaves differently. I know that he sometimes does bad things, you don't need to apologize. Even if I don't agree with you, I would like to hear what you have to say, it won't upset me."

An eyebrow raised and she watched him, smiling in the dark. Lifting her cool fingers she touched his blushing cheek. "Boyfriend? Is that something girls call the boys they are going out with?"

"Absolutely not. Rude creatures."

He gently takes her hand. "I will be very happy when you turn 18 and can get away from him. I hope that he stays in jail for at least until after your birthday, if they do not keep him in there permanently. Can you get Jonba away from him? I think he will do much better if he stays with you. Staying with that man is a horrible fate. Your father is the kind of man who knows nothing about love. He probably sees you as his property, which is not right. A father should be protecting and helping his children to grow, not abusing them." He suspects there was some sexual abuse, but she hasn't said anything and she doesn't seem to be afraid of him as a man.

Hiro nods at her. "Calling a boy '-kun' is very informal, especially after a certain age. Some girls will do it to tease a boy and some will do it to make fun of them, but usually they will call them that if they like them."

"Plus they write really mean things on bathroom walls."

Licking her lips she took a deep breath and stared down at their hands. "Certain things need to happen so he stays in Jail. I know what they are, and they won't be easy, but I know that's what needs to be done. You might not believe this, but my father wouldn't hurt Jonba, my dad has always wanted a son." Her eyes squeezed shut, and her fingers tightened. "I won't let him hurt Jonba, I won't leave the boy with him."

Silent for a longer moment, she licked her lips and finally looked up at him. "I like calling you Hiro-kun," it was her turn for her cheeks to turn pink.

"So that is where they got my number!"

"I will help you in any way I can to keep him in jail. Actually, I can believe that, but your father would do worse to him; he would teach Jonba to be evil like him. You are the best one for him. You will take care of him and teach him love."

He smiles, but his face is still incredibly red. "Honto? You can call me 'Hiro-kun'."

"Dirty, evil raptors."

"He would, that much you are right, I am afraid that even now he will be evil. I hope I can teach him that, sometimes I am worried that I can't love either."

Her voice was soft as she looked up at his face. Reaching up she lightly touched his cheek, leaning up she pressed her lips to his.

Hiro gives her a concerned look. "But it is more than obvious that you love. You love Jonba and few things are more pure than the love of family."

Hiro's eyes widen, then close as she kisses him. His mouth gently caresses hers and he moans softly. She feels so good, but part of him is worried that he's taking advantage of her pain.

Her fingers reached up to touch his hair, to feel the black silky strands under her palm. Heart racing, thudding in her chest trying to get out as she opened her mouth to lightly touch his lips with her tongue. He tasted good, sweet and almost timid, it was an interesting flavor to explore.

In the dark, with the movie playing on the giant screen in front of them - she felt wonderfully normal.

His hand cups her jaw, thumb gently rubbing her cheek as he opens to her, his tongue gently caressing hers. It feels so good to touch her. He hasn't really kissed anyone like this since Yaeko.

The thought of her slaps him in the face. He can't take advantage of Salome. He gently backs off, though his thumb is still caressing her cheek.

"I cannot take advantage of you. I know you may be ready for this, but I am unsure of myself." He really is. Things are badly mixed up in his mind.

Her head tilted to the side, leaning into the touch, his fingers warm, even against her heated cheeks. As she deepened the kiss, she placed her hand over his, keeping it there even as she felt him move away.

Keeping her eyes closed, she waited for the inevitable and when it came she was ready for it. She knew what he was going to say, or some variation of it, and slowly she exhaled when she heard him.

She gave a very slight nod of her head, she didn't want to fight to convince him. She was tired of convincing people to want her, that she was okay. Opening her eyes she gave him a smile and placed a light kiss on his cheek.

"You aren't taking advantage of me, but I understand." She did not. "Whatever you want, Hiro, truly. Please forgive me for being so forward." Turning her head, she looked back up at the movie screen.

Hiro is crushed. He's hurt her and he can't figure out how. "I don't want you to die!" he blurts out, then slaps his hand over his mouth in shock.

Her head turned quickly and she stared at him with wide eyes. She wasn't sure if he actually knew what he was talking about, or was just saying that. Since death was a very real possibility for her when her father got out.

"What?! I am not going to die, why did you say that?" She was perhaps a little more defensive then normal.

His eyes get very wide. "Every girl I have kissed has died. I am a curse."

Sagging with relief she laughed and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tight. "I am not going to die, Hiro-kun. You aren't a curse."

"But Charlie...Yaeko...Truly I fear for you." He hugs her. He could so easily fall in love with her and he doesn't want her to fall victim to his darkness.

"Shh, it's okay. You have nothing to fear, I am going to live to be hundreds of years old," she whispered into his ear. "You won't be able to get rid of me. Who else will watch over you, the dinosaurs and children?" She was teasing him gently, hoping to distract him from his thoughts.

He smiles a little. "Truly? You will live 100 years? Perhaps we will get a future house? Get a huge yard for the dinosaurs to play?" Part of him is still worried. He needs to tell her everything, but this is hardly the place for it.

Pulling back, she nodded, her fingers against his cheek. Gazing into his eyes, she smiled brightly. "That really does sound wonderful," it did, more then he probably knew. "I want a hover car too."

"Mochiron! It would not be the future without a hover car." He pulls over the cooler, takes out the lemon Chuhais, then leans up against it. He holds out his arms and pats his lap for her to sit on.

Her eyebrows rose at his gesture but she certainly didn't turn it down. Moving forward she sat down on his lap and put her head on his shoulder. Smiling, she let her finger make a pattern on his shirt as she closed her eyes. This was wonderful.

He puts one of the lemon Chuhais in easy reach for her and puts his arm around her shoulders. He wipes his fingers on his own sleeve, then begins playing with her hair. It's so soft and silky. He looks down at her snuggled against him and it makes his breath catch for a moment. He is quite smitten by her. He admires that she can still hold onto her gentle spirit, despite the things her father has subjected her to. He looks up at the screen, but he can't really say he's paying much attention to the movie.

At the fingers in her hair she whimpered a little and snuggled closer, fingers in her hair drove her crazy. His arms felt good around her, strong and secure, and for awhile she was content to sit there, simply relaxing. She grew antsy though, and slowly her fingers explored his jawline and the dark wisps of hair at his temples. So worried that he would get upset with her and leave her, she kept her touch light only placing a couple kisses on his cheek.

She really liked him, and truly didn't want to upset him.
